Today I promise to start no new projects. I will only finish ones that I have already started.
I also promise to repot that hideously out-of-control Philodendron erubescens. (Oops. Does that count as a new project?)
I have procrastinated doing anything about this philodendron because I never know what to do with all the plant material I end up removing. I can’t possibly pot them all up and give them away. I don’t know that many people who want a kudzu-like house plant. And I feel guilty tossing out something so alive!
*sigh* The dilemmas of a gardener.
Robin
Hi Robin,
Pot up the philadendron and toss the excess into the compost without guilt. In Hawaii, plants like this are pruned regularly with a machete. Although the world can always use more plants, plants can always use more compost.
I say plant ONE new baby and compost the rest – that way you can alleviate your guilt and pass on one – maybe to a black-thumbed friend?
